Business Owner and Support Worker

Hi, I'm Vicky, I live in Marsden, I moved here from Bolster Moor in 2004. I have worked in support roles for many years and originally started out working in schools to balance parenting with work.

Over the years I have worked with many different people, some of whom were  neurodivergent, this helped shape the way I wanted to support others. I started Vicky's Practical Support to offer friendly, reliable practical support that helps people feel less overwhelmed and more connected. I am currently learning Level 1 of British Sign Language and I'm also studying to become a registered manager so that the company can diversify and grow.

When I'm not working -  I love travelling, trying new things and meeting different people. I love playing board games if I can talk someone into joining in.

Cleaning Lead & Support Worker

Hi, I'm Jane, I live in Marsden and have spent many years supporting people in their homes.

I have over 20 years experience running my own domestic cleaning business and have also worked in domiciliary care. I enjoy helping people feel comfortable and supported whether that's through companionship, practical help around the home, cleaning, outings and every day routines.

I am calm, caring and down to earth and I really enjoy getting to know people properly so they feel relaxed, listened to and supported at their own pace.

Outside of work I enjoy reading, listening to music, walking my dogs, spending time with my family and getting away in my caravan.

 Support Worker

Hi, I'm Sam. I live in Golcar with my family. For over 15 years, I've run my own craft business from home whilst raising my family. During that time, I came to appreciate just how important companionship and having someone to talk to can be, which is one of the reasons I wanted to join Vicky's Practical Support.

I enjoy getting to know people and building genuine relationships. I'm caring, reliable and easy to talk to, and I believe taking the time to listen and understand each person helps them feel comfortable, valued and supported. I love helping people stay independent while making everyday life that little bit easier.

When I'm not working – I enjoy crafting, especially paper crafts and cross stitch. I also love spending time with my family and walking my dog.

Testimonial

"Up to now, it has been a struggle to find the right kind of support for my needs. Vicky has changed that.

With a good understanding of neurodiversity

and a nonjudgemental,

adaptable and flexible approach to working with me,

her combination of practical and emotional support

is helping to make day to day challenges more manageable

and the world outside my house feel a bit more accessible.

Vicky is easy company and a good mood booster,

and her time management

and clear communication skills are really appreciated.

Would definitely recommend getting a Vicky if you need one!"
